Well everyone, it's that time of year again - the FETE is here!!
The P&C is asking that every child bring one bottle of softdrink and one chocolate bar to contribute towards the fete. These can be dropped off at the tuckshop.
Hope to see you all there on Saturday!

Oh the fun we had on Friday! We got to look at all sorts of things under microscopes.
Here is a box of all the things we got to look at under the microscopes.
Close up of flea (left), and a close up of a hair lous (right). We now know why hair lice are so hard to get rid of - check out their huge hooks!

We were lucky enough to have some firemen and a firewoman visit us in their truck today. 1C was very impressed with all the tools they carry on the truck. They wanted us to remember three very important things:
They showed us all their hoses and some of us got to have a quick play.
Ethan even got to be a pretend patient.
- Call triple zero if there is a fire
- If you are in a building that is on fire - Get down low and go, go, go!
- If you are on fire - Stop, drop and roll!

Today we were lucky enough to have a talk about Safety Houses - what they are and when we use them.
We learned three very important questions to ask ourselves:
1. Do I feel safe with this person?
2. Does anyone know where I am?
3. Can I get help if I need it?
If we answer no to any of these questions, it means "Don't Go!"
After we got back to class, we brainstormed everything we could remember from the talk.

We then used our Y chart to help us write a story about a Safety House. These stories will be uploaded into individual student blogs in the next week.

There is no homework due to it being a short week.

I cannot believe next week will be halfway through this term. Gosh we are flying along this year!
Parent teacher interviews have been this week. If you missed your time, you can see make another appointment to meet before or after school. During interviews I was able to show parents where their child is sitting in relation to the rest of the class for Numeracy and Literacy. If you didn't have an interview but am interested in seeing the data, please just let me know.
Couple of operational things came up during interviews:
Next week is a super short week! We have Monday off for the Ekka Show Day holiday and Wednesday is the pupil free day.

Couple of operational things came up during interviews:
- Every child should be getting a home reader every week. If your child isn't, you need to get a large pencil case for them and bring it in to class.
- With their homework, please ensure that they are holding their pencil correctly (middle man underneath) and that they are forming the letters correctly. If they aren't, tell them to do it again as this is a habit that needs breaking!
