Senior Sports Day 2016

Thursday, June 23, 2016

A very small selection of the photos I took on 4-6 Sports Day last week. Enjoy :)

Dreamtime Stop-Motion

Well we finished our projects! It was such a fun, hands on way to learn about Dreamtime stories, as well as learn new skills in design and technology.

The class viewed the finished stories using 'Reflector' software on the laptop to mirror the iPad.

This is one of the finished products (Josie, Alyssa, Jaylen and Rhys). My apologies for the standard of the video but we had trouble sharing from our school iPads, so this is a recording of it playing on an iPad.

So proud!

We are so proud of you Emmy! Nine year old age champion runner-up!

We are amazing! Just saying...

Gold awards for perfect behaviour all term!

Reflecting

At this time of term, with reports just around the corner I think it's important to remind students to reflect. Today we talked about how some people are good at writing, some people are good at sports, some people are good at building etc. Everyone is good at something! Cue our Twitter topic:

Here's to celebrating the 'whole' child.

Stop Motion Animation

Monday, June 20, 2016

Our Stop Motion projects are coming together. We can't wait to see the final products!

Literacy rotations

'Pass the Bomb' is definitely our new favourite way to practise spelling! Students need to come up with words that contain certain letters - all the while passing a ticking 'bomb'!

Some students had fun today recognising sight words and putting them into sentences.

Week 11

Tweeting

Loved this activity to kick off our Monday morning!

Gold Awards presented this Tuesday (21/6) at 10:30am in the hall.
We look forward to seeing you there.

Reading Comprehension

Thursday, June 2, 2016

We are loving these new 'Read-it' trifolds for use during literacy rotations! They are designed so that the centre back is glued  into students books. These are just another way to practise our reading strategies.

Historical Narratives

Our history unit for the semester is drawing to a close. Students have completed their historical narratives which identify key aspects of the First Fleet. We have displayed these, as well as our convict portraits outside our classroom. Mr Hartshorn was so impressed he has given each a special Deputy Principal sticker!

Reading Challenge

The girls were so excited to receive their certificates on assembly for participating in the reading challenge.

'It's sparkly!'
