This is a super simple yet effective free app that students can use on a daily basis. At the beginning of the week, they can add in their spelling words and create their own individual spelling list.

Well done to Charlotte, Christian, Ellen and Sam for representing 4F today in the 4-6 reading competition. They were elected after sharing their pieces with the class.
St Helena Excursion
We were so pleased the rain held off for our adventure to St Helena Island yesterday!
The program was really well run. From the moment the students stepped on the 'Cat 'O Nine Tails' ferry, they were treated as 'prisoners'. The tour took us around the building ruins, the prison museum, the island cemetery, as well as a demonstration of the types of punishments the prisoners were subjected to. I'm sure all the students slept well last night after all the walking!
Behaviour
Well done Hayley and Kylan! Both of these students made it to the top of our behaviour chart today by being on task and participating actively in class discussion.

Hope all of our 4F Mums had a wonderful, relaxing day with their family. When Mr Hartshorn asked the students on 4/5 parade this week about things they could get / do for Mum that wouldn't cost anything, one student replied, 'Just some peace and quiet!' So I hope you got some of that too!

Just a reminder that photo day is this Friday. Students must be in full formal uniform. They will need to take their photo form with them when they have their photo taken.

For each question today (we focused on x3), students were taken through the process of using a split strategy, as well as using a build-up strategy. The class were then encouraged to use the strategy they felt the most comfortable with to complete word problems.
History
In History today we learnt about the types of people who would have been a part of the First Fleet. We spent some time talking about each 'character', then students were put in groups and needed to silently act out their character. The rest of the class needed to guess who they were.
Talk with your child about who they acted out today.
We also discussed the experiences of the convicts in particular - before the first fleet, during the voyage and then once they had arrived in Australia. This is what the students will need to call on when they write their historical narrative.
4F are also listening to the story Eliza Bird to help 'paint a picture' as to what it would've been like to be a child convict.
